Commandments / all the "rules" actually give us more agency.
It doesn't "take away our options" but rather, it increases our capacity.

Options vs Capacity

I have the option to slam dunk a basketball if I wanted to. No one is stopping me from doing it, I have the option.
But I don't have the capacity to slam dunk.

I have the option to be a doctor and operate on someone,
but unless I go through the right schooling, I won't have the capacity to do so successfully.

The gospel is like a rollercoster. 

Throughout your life you will have highs and lows, but what is important is that you don't get off the ride.

Faith is a choice.

Choose faith, not fear.

"Cast not therefore away your confidence"

Focus on your faith and what you do know, rather than fearing what you do not yet know
